The New Market Cemetery is more than a resting place; it's a vital piece of our town's shared history, and we need your help to preserve it. We are looking for volunteers to join our team and assist with the day-to-day operations that keep this space welcoming, safe, and accessible for all who visit.

We are looking for volunteer(s) to assume responsibility for the administrative coordination and community care involved in scheduling burials within the cemetery.

We are looking for a volunteer to establish a strategic plan for adding a columbarium to the cemetery and to update the rules regarding the burial of cremains.

We are looking for a volunteer to supervise and moderate a curated web-based Memorial Wall for friends, relatives, and other loved ones to share memories of the departed.

We are looking for a volunteer to help secure financial contributions and asset transfers to fund cemetery maintenance, monument restoration, and capital projects.

We are looking for a volunteer to manage public inquiries regarding family histories and provide links to Maryland and Frederick County genealogical resources.

We are looking for a volunteer to research, apply for, and manage grant funding opportunities to support the preservation of the cemetery grounds.

We are looking for a volunteer(s) to supervise cemetery maintenance, establish planting policies, and coordinate landscaping projects with the Methodist church, Garden Club, and Scouts.

We are looking for volunteers to coordinate with the Town of New Market and the State of Maryland to implement required sections of the Maryland Inventory of Cemeteries and Burial Sites Workgroup Report, as required by SB354/HB509 and Chapters 411 & 412 of the 2025 Laws of Maryland by the Maryland Historical Trust.
Volunteers should have experience or comfort with reviewing legislative documents, report writing, or government liaison work. [Insert anticipated weekly/monthly commitment]
We are looking for a volunteer to establish a Veterans program, research soldiers buried in our cemetery, and build connections with Maryland veterans organisations.
